We Eat Responsibly
Forum Menu for Change Let´s Regenerate the Earth with heads hearts and hands will gather Eco-schools teachers from nine European countries, food and farming experts and educators.
The Forum will celebrate positive changes that have taken place during the „We Eat Responsibly“ project, debate how to further engage locally with youth in favour of responsible food systems that care for people and the planet and imagine how can we regenerate the Earth with every bite.
In the last three years, over 513 Eco-Schools have engaged in shaping food consumption in a more just and sustainable way and have contributed to solving the global challenges of our time.
Altogether more than 539,000 students were involved in actions around responsible food consumption such as planting vegetables, creating seed banks or campaigning for alternatives to palm oil.
Of these, 112,189 have directly organised events about how to stop food waste, eat less meat, find local and seasonal food, and promote farmers who produce it. All this contributes to solving global problems of biodiversity loss, climate change, deforestation, pollution of water, soil and air, unequal share of global resources, and poverty.
Let us
– deepen the knowledge of teachers and students about the links between food consumption and global challenges such as food security, climate change, planetary boundaries, poverty, hunger, livelihoods, etc.
– inspire teachers about concrete ways to work with their students on these topics in theory and practice like global issues, framing concepts, and connect to local farms, start organic food gardens, reform the school canteen menus, start a seed bank, etc.
– make space for teachers to share their own ideas and good practices
– celebrate Food as a new official theme of Ecoschool network
